VALORADA is pleased to launch its “Capacity Building Programme”!
The first series of two online workshops is on the theme of “Climate risk data and assessment”, designed to enhance local adaptation strategies through climate risk data and tools. These workshops aim to develop and strengthen the skills, capacities and resources of local and regional authorities, as well as climate service providers, to improve their effectiveness in meeting the challenges of climate change and ensuring the resilience of their communities.
The first workshop, “Data for Climate Risk Reduction and Adaptation”, takes place on November 5th, 2024. Organized in conjunction with the 12th World Urban Forum (UN-Habitat, 2024), this interactive webinar will explore how valuable data drives local actions for sustainable cities amidst unprecedented climate challenges. Experts from academia, business associations, and local governments will discuss the climate data valorisation framework, engage in practical sessions led by Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon and EARSC, and share success stories from the Harmonia project. The session will conclude with a dynamic Q&A, providing participants with an opportunity to address their questions directly.
The second workshop, titled “Copernicus Climate Change Services (C3S) Support to Regions,” is scheduled for November 19, 2024. This workshop aims to equip regional authorities with the knowledge needed to integrate Copernicus Climate Change Services (C3S) into their adaptation strategies. Participants will benefit from practical sessions with experts from the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts and Aerospace Valley, learning how to effectively leverage new data and technologies for climate change monitoring. The program will also explore regional initiatives aimed at incorporating C3S into adaptation efforts, showcasing best practices for regional cooperation and knowledge exchange in data-driven climate action.
These interactive sessions are open to local authorities, regional providers and anyone interested in climate adaptation. This is a valuable opportunity to engage in insightful discussions on addressing climate challenges.
