VALORADA is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Green Innovation Procurement workshop, the third and final session in this series of the Capacity Building Programme. This session gathered policy experts, procurement specialists, and sustainability advocates to explore how public procurement can drive climate innovation and accelerate sustainable transformation across key sectors such as transport, energy, water management, and environmental protection.

Public procurement plays a crucial role in advancing carbon neutrality, circular economy principles, and climate-friendly innovation. This workshop provided a platform to discuss how public authorities can integrate sustainability criteria into procurement strategies, implement Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP), and foster impactful solutions for climate resilience.

Pawel Kaczkan from Climate-KIC provided an introduction to green procurement, outlining how sustainable purchasing policies can drive environmental impact reduction and promote eco-innovation. He emphasized the importance of embedding climate-friendly criteria into procurement processes to achieve long-term sustainability goals.

Melissa Campagno from G.A.C. Group shared practical insights on how public authorities can engage in Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP). She explained how this process supports innovation by allowing public buyers to work with businesses on cutting-edge solutions before they reach the commercial market.

Ana Isabel Peiró Baquedano from CORVERS offered expertise on PCP’s benefits and its role in fostering targeted climate solutions. Her presentation highlighted successful case studies of procurement strategies that have driven environmental impact reductions and showcased best practices for structuring tenders to encourage sustainable innovation.

Throughout the workshop, discussions focused on key strategies, including:

  • How public authorities can integrate green criteria into procurement policies to reduce environmental impact.
  • Practical approaches to turning waste into valuable resources and supporting circular economy models.
  • The role of PCP in accelerating climate-focused innovation by fostering partnerships between public and private sectors.
  • Best practices for sustainable and impact-driven procurement, ensuring that public investments align with climate resilience objectives.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all participants and our expert speakers, Pawel Kaczkan, Melissa Campagno, and Ana Isabel Peiró Baquedano, as well as to the Climate-KIC team, including Michelle Zheng and Stefka Domuzova, for their support in organizing this workshop.

As VALORADA continues its Capacity Building Programme, we look forward to further exploring innovative approaches to climate adaptation, digital governance, and sustainable urban development.
